About

FOREST:
Forest can be define as a large tract of uncultivated land covered with trees and other vegetation such as herbs and shrubs, growing more or less closely together along with animals-minute and large in size.

BIOLOGICALLY:
Forest is a community of plants and animals generally dominated by trees.

ECOLOGICALLY:
Forest is a biological community of plants and animals existing in a complex interaction with non living environment, such as soil, climate and other physiography.

FOREST LAW POINT VIEW:
Forest is an area of land declared to be forest under a forest act or ordinance.

FORESTRY:
Forestry can be define as the subject that deals with the study and practice of forestland management and associated resources.Actually forest resource includes  all forms of wood such as timber, fuel wood, poles etc.and other things such as water, wildlife and amenity or recreational values of forest and wild-lands.Forestry is the amalgamation of biological, physical managerial, social and political science.

FORESTER:
Forester can be define as any person engaged in forestry activity is called a forester.A
person who have university degree in forestry activity is called as forester. In the Indo-Pak  subcontinent, forester is a rank below the ranger and above the forest guard.

SCOPE OF FORESTRY:
Forestry is the combination of multi-disciplinary subjects. It relates the various disciplines of science, art, commerce and social science.Forestry includes the knowledge of silviculture, natural resource management, entomology, soil science, geology, mycology, forest engineering, social forestry, wildlife conservation, administration, law etc.Knowledge about forestry is very helpful to understand the process of...............
  1. Proper conservation of environment.
  2. To meet the demand of fuel, fodder for teeming millions living in rural areas.
  3. To supply timber for rural and urban use.
  4. To attain sustainable yield of forest raw materials for forest based industries.
OBJECTIVES OF FORESTRY THROUGH OUT THE WORLD:
  1. To create, conserve and managing forests and lands for the continuous use of their resources.(biotic, abiotic, tangible and intangible commodities).
  2. Now a days forestry encompasses tree growing and conservation of flora and fauna in areas outside the traditional forest area.
  3. Production of timber with creating possibilities for out-door recreation along with grazing, range, watershed and wildlife management(multi-purpose use of forest land).
DEVELOPMENT AND FORESTRY:
In past, people were dependent on natural forests and no intensive management was thought of,since supply was abundant in relation to demand. At that time many developed countries such as Canada,U.S.A,U.K are dependent primary on forestry for initial capital for investment in other sectors. Then forest were abundant, renewable, relatively simple and cheap technology needed to harvest and process them. The development and sustainability of many sectors of economy such as agriculture, mining communication, energy, tourism, education depends on forestry.Forests increase fertility reducing unfertile sediment deposition to the agricultural fields.Forests keep land fertile and increase productivity is known to everybody.Forest maintain continuous flow of water, nutrient cycling an increase rainfall.Trees around the  agricultural field are good sheltered place of birds and animals. As we know birds live on insects, many of which are the pests for agricultural crops.Wildlife is a good source of protein also, together with many intangible benefits like recreation, hunting, shooting etc.Forest serves as a source  of coal, transmission poles, fossil fuels and helps for sustained production of hydro-electricity from projects like kaptai thereby reducing siltation to the lake or reservoirs.Wild animals and beautiful scene as source of tourism.flower/nectar varieties as a source of apiculture, shrimp cultivation in mangrove ecological zone, slippers, pencil, furniture and source of education etc.are directly or indirectly related with the forest production system.A number of fossil products such as coal, petroleum is also associated with or originated from forests.
IMPORTANCE OF FORESTS IN THE WORLD PERSPECTIVE:
As we know that forest serves basic needs of human beings such as food and shelter from pre-historic time along with medicine, fuel and protection.Forest needs to men from cradle to grave. The world without forest can not be existed.Because without forest there wood be flood in the rainy season and drought in the dry season, living wood be uncomfortable due to extremes of temperature, soil erosion and silting up would increase and top soil fertility decrease, many animals an plants wood extinct. Therefore,no one can imagine survival of the world without forest.
